Welcome to my cooking blog. My name is Michelle Jenkins. Let me start by admitting that these are NOT gourmet meals, they are NOT fine dining, but they are mine. I have cooked all of these recipes and taken my own photos. They are fairly simple recipes, most of them are quick to prepare and cook and all of them are delicious. I only post my successes! If something doesn't work out, I don't post it. I hope you enjoy this blog.

Should we move?
Hi fellow foodies. I've been doing a lot of thinking of late and I am considering moving this blog to it's own domain name. So instead of the domain name being http://nellscookingblog.blogspot.com.au it could be www.knifeforkchew.com.
So I have some questions for you followers:
- If I do this, will you follow me to the new domain name?
- Because I am Australian - would you rather the new domain name be a dot com or a dot com dot au? I don't mind either way.
- Would you prefer me to keep it looking like a blog? Or turn it into a traditional website with a database of my recipes and articles?
- Would you be interested in subscribing if that were an option? That way you would get all new recipes the moment I've added them.
- There will be no charge for you followers of course, but I may consider advertising. How would you feel about that?
- What other content would you like to see on this blog/website?
Please leave your responses in the comments below. Or alternatively, please send me an email at michelle@mojoonlinesolutions.com.au
I value your opinions, so please tell me how you really feel :)
Thank you,
Michelle

Julie Goodwin sends message from yonder
I feel like such a fan-girl, lol. I sent Julie Goodwin, Masterchef winner, a message on her Facebook Page and then thought nothing of it. However today she sent me a reply and I am feeling very humble. I've attached a screenshot to show you, and of course, so I can gloat and say 'ner ner ner ner ner!'
So because I've been given the nod to go forth and prosper (lol) tonight I will make Julie's recipe 'Vietnamese Chicken Salad' from her third book 'Gather'. Stay tuned for the blog post a bit later XD

Recipe Cloud App
I've never written an app review before, but I came across this app recently in the iTunes App Store and I was impressed enough to write about it...
Recipe Cloud app available in the App Store
I like how RECIPE CLOUD connects me to other like minded people willing to share their recipes. It is easy to navigate, search and share and the way it accesses cooking blogs with ease makes this app a winner.
Features include:
- Save recipes from your favourite websites or add your own
- Use the meal planner to plan your next great feast
- Connect with your Facebook friends to find out what they are cooking
- Follow featured users and find inspiration
- Choose which recipes are public and which are private
- Explore the recipe books and discover new recipes
- Import recipes from Paprika, Yummy Soup! and Mac Gourmet
The photographs look professional, the interface is attractive, the features are perfect for foodies. I've managed to add recipes from my own blog to share with others so therefore my cooking blog is getting more exposure. I am also discovering more food bloggers through Recipe Cloud.

A new cookbook
For Mothers Day yesterday I was given a new cookbook. The author, Julie Goodwin is a down to earth Australian mother who entered a cooking competition a few years back and won! She was the first winner of popular TV show, Masterchef Australia.
I watched this woman with such admiration from day one and I knew she would win. She is a wonderful cook with a beautiful personality.
I loved this woman's cooking style so much that I bribed hubby to build us a new kitchen. The moment it was done, I was in there cooking up a storm, cooking Julie's home-made, simple yet delicious meals for families...and hence began my blog.
There is nothing fancy about my blog and there is nothing fancy about Julie. That's what I love about her. Her meals are easy, affordable and perfect for busy families. So the next series of blog posts are going to be from Julie's book called 'Gather'. This is her third cooking book. It is beautifully presented with amazing photography, but there is nothing 'fancy' about the recipes. If I can make them - so can you.
Follow along and if you find something you like, give it a try. Check out Julie's website too.

Welcome to my new cooking blog
I've moved from Tumblr because in my opinion Blogger is more professional...not as professional as, say, LiveJournal or Wordpress, but I like the look and feel of Blogger. A word of warning about this blog - the meals are NOT fancy. They are NOT gourmet - they are simple, easy to prepare, easy to cook and (mostly) healthy family meals.
My family consists of 2 adults who could lose a few kilos, a Vegetarian teenage daughter and a very fussy, too-afraid-to-try-anything-new 9 year old son. Dinner time can often be stressful and time-consuming so I make meals which are as painless as possible.
Anyhow sit back, pour a cup of your favourite beverage and enjoy my recipes.
Nell XD
